Job Description

Senior Director advanced analytics & insights, global strategy, major pharmaceutical company, Cambridge Your new companyIs a leading global pharmaceutical company based near Cambridge who are looking to add a Senior Director with extensive analytics and insights / intelligence experience to lead global strategy efforts and a team to help optimise and transform how the business uses data. They have an excellent corporate atmosphere and a strong pipeline with multiple launches planned over the next few years.Your new roleYou will be joining an established analytics department, setting out and delivering a major strategic vision for how the business can use data and insights to drive performance across multiple portfolios. This is a truly Global role, supporting stakeholders and commercial teams through innovative analytics and insights approaches, and setting out a pathway to help transform the business. This is a permanent role, created due to ongoing growth within the department. Main duties will include:

  • Developing strategy for how analytics and data can be used to drive the business forward;
  • Assessing and implementing new tools, approaches, datasets and techniques within data analytics;
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and external vendors about cutting edge technology and approaches and how these can best be utilised, eg machine learning / data modelling;
  • Working closely with multiple departments and therapy teams to understand needs and opportunities around data and its utilisation;
  • Building and leading a team, including identifying technical and other training needs;
  • Utilising various datasets to build a picture of where brands/assets lie within the market;
  • Networking with area experts and KOLs to stay at the forefront of innovation within the analytics field;
  • Leading a team of analysts/insights specialists;
  • Assessing and bringing in new data sources, eg forecasts, broker reports, asset intelligence, scientific papers, market research data;
  • Dealing with third party vendors and external collaborators, eg commercial groups / academia; and
  • Leading and overseeing projects, ensuring effective timeline management.
  • This role is initially fully home based.What youll need to succeedAs well as excellent organisational, communication and analytical skills, you should have:
  • An extensive track record within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry within advanced analytics, market research, competitive / business intelligence, or forecasting roles, either in-house or for a consultancy;
  • Hands-on experience working with pharmaceutical / healthcare data sets from major providers such as IQVIA, eg MIDAS, real-world / health claims data, eg Marketscan;
  • Leadership experience, for both people and projects;
  • The ability to develop large, overarching strategies relating to analytics and data use to influence areas such as product launch, portfolio management or drug development;
  • Experience of working on projects across the Global pharmaceutical / healthcare market;
  • Excellent people skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence decisions;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • A technical, business or scientific background, eg BSc, MSc or equivalent experience, with higher degrees, eg PhD / MBA preferred (for subject such as IT, business, data science, statistics, life sciences or similar)
