Job Description

Due to a recently awarded tender a leading tier one construction contractor with an enviable portfolio of major projects across London and the South East have an opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join their team to work on a £60M life science projectin Cambridge and another in Oxford. The company carry out design and build typically with a focus on heavy cut and carve projects valued between £30M- £120M each.Their portfolio of live projects in London and the South East includes commercial, high end hotels health care, industrial and education projects. The company turn over close to £1BN per annum with the London division forecasted to turnover £300M this year.The company maintain a higher than average level of staff retention they embrace a diverse working culture and employees are charismatic and highly motivated with excellent prospects of career progression available to them within the business.The Role

  • Reporting to the Design Director the Design Managers responsibilities will include:
  • Management of the design process in order to develop a design compliant with all contract requirements and in the most cost effective way in order to deliver the project on time, within budget Lead the full design and coordination process from CommercialTransfer to Practical completion of the project.
  • Support the procurement and construction teams in order to deliver the project.
  • Ensure design output corresponds with design input
  • Review the content of each design package with designer and production team
  • Plan the design tasks in line with procurement and construction strategies
  • Review the content of each design package with designer and production team
  • Monitor the performance of the design progress, budgets, quality against objectives and take all required actions.
  • Organise and participate in design reviews .
  • Is responsible to Liaise between Clients, Consultants and the project staff for design matters.
  • Ensure Design Coordination of the overall Consultants Design and Subcontractors.
Experience RequiredSuitable Design Manager will be able to demonstrate significant experience working on major construction projects including the design and delivery of facades projects typical to those found on commercial building in Central London.Experience managing commercial design projects.• Experience working under JCT Design & Build contract• Experience using Asta PowerProject and ViewPoint For Projects• Clear understanding of Commercial aspects of development - Working closely alongside Commercial and Construction Teams.• Excellent communication and organisational skillsThe Design Manager will have clear knowledge of the design process, at delivery design stage with a Main Contractor and have the ability to manage consultants scope and budgetsThis Design Manager vacancy is available immediately - please get in touch with Intersect Global to find our more information.Intersect Global are an equal opportunities employer, we embrace diversity in the work place.
