Job Description

Senior Scientist - Assay Development (lateral flow) - CambridgeTEC Partners are recruiting for a Cambridge-based diagnostics company working on really exciting breakthrough technology, with a real emphasis on developing and commercialising their product range across a variety of applications.Senior Scientist - Assay Development Responsibilities:

  • Working in collaboration with other members of the development team & developing effective relationships with the rest of the development team.
  • Responsible for delivering projects to agreed timelines.
  • Leading the design, development and optimisation of lateral flow based assays, assay components, detection substrate and protein conjugates
  • Developing methods for protein purification and stabilisation.
  • Must maintain an excellent awareness of assay development, and knowledge of QC, verification and validation testing, manufacturing, ISO 13485 and health and safety.
  • A high degree of troubleshooting activities will be involved.
  • Implementing third party supplier contracts for critical reagents and writing manufacturing handover documentation.
  • Responsible for customer pilot projects, proof-of-principle experiments or demonstrations as needed.
  • Preparation of SOPs, records, published materials, reports, and posters.
  • Attendance at offsite meetings and conferences.
    • Senior Scientist - Assay Development Profile:
  • Possess a PhD in a biological sciences discipline, with 2+ years commercial assay development
  • Have demonstrable product development experience in clinical immunoassays gained within the regulated immunodiagnostic products industry, ideally in the development of lateral flow based products
  • Have a sound understanding of development, quality systems (ISO 13485), verification and validation testing, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements
  • Supervisory/mentoring experience would also be highly desirable
  • Possessing experience in a small, early-stage biotech would be highly desirable
