Job Description

TEC Partners are working with a revolutionary early-stage biotech company in the Cambridge area, who are going through significant expansion due to recent successful funding.Im looking for innovative and motivated molecular biologists, bioengineers, biochemists and biophysicists at different seniority levels to help develop a novel automated method for gene synthesis and assembly.As an integral member of the Biology team, you will play an important role in the design, development and integration of the key biological components in their breakthrough technology. Your skills will ideally complement the strengths and expertise of the multi-disciplinary scientific teams.Essential skillset:

  • Educated to BSc/ MSc/ PhD level in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biophysics or a related field
  • Proven experience in developing bio-assays (applicable to microfluidics)
  • Proficient in molecular biology and biophysical methods for DNA/RNA manipulation and analysis (including PCR/ qPCR/ hybridisation, amplification, detection, and purification)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, good organisation and record keeping
  • Hands-on data analysis
  • Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Desirable skillset:
  • Experience in DNA synthesis, gene assembly and error correction methods
  • Familiarity with systems for DNA detection/quantification
  • Knowledge and experience of NGS technologies
  • Experience with DNA arrays or alternative surface biosensors
  • Python programming experience
  • Experience in developing bioassays for electrophoretic environments
  • Exposure to an industrial environment
  • Understanding of the product development process
