Job Description

We act as a discovery partner for leading pharma and biotech companies worldwide, providing research services and tools to support the development of personalized medicines.We have an exciting opportunity for a cell culture scientist to join our team. As a Scientist 2 in the cell culture department, you will be responsible for maintaining, cryopreservation and validation of cell lines from clients and internal groups. You will also coordinate the growth and handover of cell lines to internal groups under ISO13485 standards.This is a lab-based role. Candidates will be expected to work on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and should be highly self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities.Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Maintain multiple mammalian tissue culture cell lines in culture
  • Ensure a smooth handover of cell lines to our diagnostic reagents manufacturing team
  • Cryopreserve mammalian cells using aseptic technique. Testing and supplying Cell Banks to internal and external groups
  • Following training, independently perform detailed tasks under minimal supervision
  • Process, record, and report all data generated in a precise and organized manner
  • Present data and information clearly to internal stakeholders
  • Identify and solve problems associated with processes or own activities
  • Use resources effectively and hold self and others accountable for high standards
  • Be an effective team member in supporting cell-based onboarding at Horizon
    • Scientist Requirements:
  • Degree in Biotechnology or Biological discipline (or equivalent experience) with relevant experience in a cell biology laboratory setting
  • Extensive experience of cell culture and excellent aseptic technique
  • Experience of working under a quality management system e.g ISO9001 / ISO13485
  • A careful and meticulous nature with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and on several different projects or tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work to tight timelines and be able to manage a busy workload.
  • Flexible, adaptable, independent, resilient and able to work in a matrix-managed environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Industry experience preferred
  • Experience in planning others workload
