Job Description

Scientist (Pluripotent Stem Cells) - CambridgeThis job opportunity is with an award-winning biotech company in Cambridge that are looking to grow rapidly. They have developed a unique proprietary cell technology that has the potential to be revolutionary in Stem Cell Biology.This is a truly unique opportunity to join an early-stage company and to work on exciting, fast-moving projects. They really are at the cutting edge of molecular/synthetic biology and are looking for a talented Scientist to join their expanding iPSC platform team.Scientist Role:They are looking for an exceptional Scientist to join their HiPSC platform team. This role offers collaboration with; R&D, Gene Engineering and Manufacturing teams, in order to provide full validate HiPS cells. Your role will be instrumental in executing this work within the company, and conducting research with a tangible, real-world impact.Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of fully validated iPS cells for the R&D and Product Development teams, achieved by overseeing iPS cell culture and quality assessments.
  • Advising and coaching junior members in the laboratory by providing intellectual and practical support.
  • Developing, optimising and implementing SOPs for iPSC production and QA / QC assays.
  • Reporting key performance data to internal stakeholders.
  • Promoting a pro-active, continuous development culture within the team.
  • Pro-actively identifying new technologies for the production and assessment of iPSCs.
  • Scientist Profile:
  • Driven by scientific excellence, with strong attention to details and organisational skills
  • Hands-on experience in collaborative project management
  • Be a keen team player who will enjoy working at the interface of the wider science team to support the companys cell type development efforts
  • Enjoy tackling research challenges through critical thinking and inventiveness, demonstrating the highest of research standards
  • Are comfortable and used to working to tight timelines and managing workload and priorities.
  • Essential for this Scientist role:
  • Possess a BSc in life sciences (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of 3 years practical lab experience in a relevant industry or scientific organisation.
  • Human iPSC biology, reprogramming, culture and processing.
  • Cell characterisation methods (ICC, qPCR and other assays).
  • Staff training and career development experience.
  • Being a motivated scientist demonstrating the highest scientific rigour, operational skills and work standards.
  • Desirable attributes:
  • Experience developing and implementing SOPs.
  • Experience in iPSC production or a similar manufacturing environment.
