AstraZenecas broad pipeline of next-generation oncology medicines is focused principally on four disease areas – breast, ovarian, lung and haematological cancers. Are you ready to work on one of the most exciting pipelines in the Oncology industryWe are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with good in vivo expertise and knowledge to join our Oncology Research Team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in isolating therapeutic antibodies and developing our expertise in immuno-oncology. You will be based at theCambridge Biomedical Campus and Granta Park sites in Cambridge (UK). Main Duties and Responsibilities: This role is a predominantly hands-on laboratory based in vivo biologist role, to supportimmuno-oncology research and development activities within Oncology (Cambridge UK).The successful candidate will be a highly motivated laboratory-based Scientist with significant knowledge and expertise within in vivo experimentation. Assigned work items will primarilyinvolve in vivo experimentation allied to specific projects, studies and workstreams; but may also include other pharmacology related activities to support the in vivo function. These may include more generalised collaborative efforts required to deliver in vivo support across the project portfolio. The successful candidate will be expected to present findings at internal meetings and prepare precise technical reports, protocols, quantitative analyses, and maintain appropriate documentation.There will be a requirement to work flexibly; including occasional weekends if necessary.Location will be split between 2 sites for this role - Cambridge Biomedical Campus (70%) and Granta Park (30%) Typical Accountabilities Independent or collaborative delivery of predefined in vivo work items within animmuno-oncology focused research and development group operating a matrix management model. In vivo work items will be defined by line-management, discipline or project leadership (agreed by line-management). Quality and timeliness of delivery of in vivo work items will be monitored and actively managed by line-management. Education, Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceEssential

  • You will have a BSc/MSc in a biological science
  • Significant expertise and knowledge concerning in vivo experimentation allied to research, drug development or toxicology.
  • Utmost integrity and ethical standards associated with animal experimentation.
  • Willingness to undertake hands-on in vivo work in a predominantly laboratory-based role.
  • Ability to design and independently run and analyse in vivo experiments
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills and record keeping. Ability to independently analyse data with appropriate statistical testing.
  • Detailed proficiency in the English language, both writing and speaking
  • Willingness to work flexibly; including weekends if necessary.
  • Desirable
  • Home Office Licence (PIL Modules A, B, and C) or equivalent qualification for animal work and experience working under Home Office Regulations (as a Personal Licence Holder)
  • Experience of murine tumour models and allied experimentation.
  • Ability to independently develop and design ex-vivo and / or in vitro experiments to understand the effect of drugs in complex model systems.
  • Expertise in techniques for the analysis of immune function and phenotype (e.g. flow cytometry, proliferation, cytokine/chemokine release [e.g. MSD, ELISA], chemotaxis, target cell killing assays).
  • Experience with in vivo imaging methods, working with radioisotopes or viral vectors.
  • Experience preparing written scientific reports (e.g. manuscripts) and oral presentations (e.g. slides, posters).
