Job Description

About The RoleAs we prepare for next season, we are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join our team as a trainer to help develop our next generation of River Tour Guides.We pride ourselves on being committed to staff training and development, supporting our new recruits from day one through their induction, on-boarding and continued development.What youll be doingThis role is central to ensuring that our trainees and new hires are equipped with the tools needed to deliver an outstanding tour experience for our customers, and to do this you will:

  • Deliver our in-depth River Tour Guide training programme, which blends classroom-based theory sessions, including tour knowledge and information, soft skills and first-class customer experience.
  • Run practical outdoor sessions on the punts, teaching delegates the art of punting and working with them on tour presentation and content.
  • Create a learning environment that caters effectively for different learning styles and encourages delegate involvement
  • Most delegates are learning the tour knowledge and punting skills from scratch, so offering ongoing support through coaching and constructive feedback is vital.About YouWhat makes you our next River Tour Guide TrainerOur business is highly seasonal, which brings the challenge of gearing our River Tour Guides up to match customer demand. We are looking for someone with a training background, who will enjoy working within this dynamic environment and is able to demonstrate how their skills, experience and attributes make them you the ideal candidate to fulfil this role. In particular you will have;
  • A proven track record in skills training and coaching.
  • A passion for history, knowledge sharing & developing others.
  • Effective interpersonal skills across all age ranges, including listening skills.
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills, with an ability to be adaptable and use own initiative.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to operate effectively within a team.
  • What would really help
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing industry, such as hospitality, retail or tourism.
  • Good background knowledge in UK and genuine interest in the City of Cambridge and its local history.
  • About ScudamoresWhat’s the package
  • Fixed Term Contract until 31st July 2021.
  • Full time 40-hour week - start and finish times may vary.
  • 5 days out of 7, with the availability to work weekends and bank holidays.
  • Competitive hourly rate of pay, dependent on skills and experience.
  • You will be based at a Cambridge city centre location.
