Description:Our client one of the worlds biggest technology companies are looking for someone to join their highly successful team as a Research Programme Manager.The Cloud Infrastructure team is a highly cross-disciplinary group of computer scientists, physicists, and engineers working hand-in-hand and partnering closely with product teams to tackle the big and open challenges of next-generation cloud infrastructure.Our researchers and engineers have diverse expertise across many areas of systems and computer science, optical sciences and advanced image processing, and engineering. We create new technologies and also develop partnerships with leading academic groups acrossthe world.Optics for the Cloud is an exciting programme of research to advance and enable the adoption of optical technologies in the rapidly growing field of cloud infrastructure. We currently focus on three main areas: storage, networking, and compute. Our workspans the entire vertical stack, including optical device design and fabrication, optical system and sub-system design, and systems co-design and integration within the data centre infrastructure.Our team is making tremendous progress and we continue to grow from strength to strength. We are looking for a capable Research Program Manager to work closely with our team and with our industrial and academic partners. One of the main areas of focus forthis role will be Project Silica, a highly novel glass and femtosecond laser data storage technology.Responsibilities Work closely with our highly multidisciplinary team and our internal and external partners across the business to identify rapidly evolving priorities and implement effective operational solutions to sustain our rhythm of development. Act as interface between team members and hardware suppliers: translating specifications; ensuring item delivery is in line with project milestones; and processing documentation. Follow documented procedures to ensure the compliance of business processes, such as secure data handling, non-disclosure agreements, strengthen our relationship with our partners and customers. Apply their experience and look for opportunities of growth to evolve processes, services, and solutions and improve the customer, partner, and internal group experience.Qualifications and Skills Likely to have a good degree in engineering or science. At least 5 years experience working as a program manager in research and development. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Personal integrity, initiative, curiosity, and exceptional judgement.Understanding of fundamental business processes and challenges. Willingness to learn and to help others to succeed.
