We connect the world of science to advance chemical knowledge for a better future.Position: Accreditation & Chartered Status SpecialistLocation: Cambridge (commutable from Alconbury, Bedford, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridgeshire, Cambridge North, Cherry Hinton, Chesterton, Ely, Fen Drayton, Fenstanton, Histon & Impington, Hitchin, Huntingdon, Longstanton, Milton, Newmarket, Northstowe, Oakington, Orchard-Park, Royston, Saffron Walden, Somersham, St Ives, St Neots, Stevenage, Swavesey, Waterbeach, Wyton and surrounding areas)Job type: Full Time, Fixed Term ContractSalary: £30,375 to £33,750 per annum plus benefitsBenefits: Excellent contributory pension scheme, generous paid holidays, 35-hour (for full-time staff) working week, learning and career development, subsidised staff restaurant (Cambridge office), staff sports and social club, free private healthcare plan, income protection scheme, critical illness insurance, life assurance, free on-site parking (Cambridge office), season ticket, car/motor cycle and cycle to work schemes, membership subscription, employee assistance programme, eye-care at work scheme, wellness initiatives, flexible work environment, employee recognition, long service awards, membership subscription to professional body and RSC, two discounted staff flats on-site (Cambridge office) and more.Closing Date: 22 November 2020About the role:The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has an opportunity for an Accreditation & Chartered Chemist Specialist to join our Accreditation & Careers team on a full-time (35-hour week) temporary basis to cover maternity leave from January 2021.As an Accreditation & Chartered Status Specialist for the RSC you will be responsible for:- Delivering the UK and Ireland degree accreditations programme and helping with occasional overseas accreditations.- Raising awareness of degree accreditation and its importance throughout the chemistry community, especially among learners.- Managing individual applications for Chartered Chemist and contributing to the membership and industry strategies.- Updating and maintaining standards associated with Chartered Chemist within a framework and increasing support for this award, alongside the Professional Standards Specialist.- Advising stakeholders and external partners (e.g. universities, applicants, CChem candidates and colleagues) on RSC qualifying processes.We are looking for:Essential:- A degree in the chemical sciences.- An awareness of the range of universities offering chemical science programmes.- To be (or be eligible to be) a member of the RSC and CChem.- Able to work independently and as part of a team, with very good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, accountability, time management and IT skills.- Able to support individuals and institutions to complete applications, guiding them through processes and contributing suggestions for improvements to processes.- Able to interact and network competently with RSC colleagues, members on committees, senior university staff, employers of chemists and peers at other professional bodies.Desirable:- A comprehensive understanding of degree courses and qualifications in the chemical sciences.- Able to develop a broad knowledge of overseas qualifications.- Able to provide reasoned opinion and objective advice to applicants/assessors and mentors on Chartered qualifying aspects.The Royal Society of Chemistry supports development and offers excellent benefits.If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply by the closing date.You may have experience of the following: Accreditation and Chartered Status Specialist, Accreditations Specialist, Head of Quality & Accreditation, Accreditation Assistant, Accreditations, Chartered Status Specialist, Accreditation Project Manager, Programme Manager, Chemical Sciences, Charity, Charities, NFP, Not for Profit, etc.Ref: 95229
