People worldwide recognise, trust and understandthe value of the chemical sciences.Our Member Networks are a very important part of that community with over 120 geographical and subject based committees, involving 1500 volunteers, who run activities covering the full diversity of the chemical sciences across many countries. They harnessthe expertise and passion within our membership. As part of this our 70 Interest Groups organise hundreds of specialist activities, including international conferences, one-day symposia, seminars and webinars, reaching tens of thousands of delegates each year,to advance the various sub-specialisms in chemistry and at the interface with related sciences.The official job title for this role is Programme Manager, Member Communities Development and this role is needed on a fixed term (18-month) basis to lead a project to develop the future portfolio of interest groups and related specialist communities. Thisproject plays an important part in the delivery of the membership strategy and will ensure our community will continue to evolve to meet the changing landscape in our science, its practice and application.We are looking for: Specialist subject knowledge in chemistry (PhD, postgraduate or equivalent specialist experience working in science or related fields). Specialist knowledge in the networking and community needs of scientists and professionals. Strong experience in project or programme management and ability to develop new ideas and strategic approaches to a programme, project or product. Experience of working on projects involving multiple stakeholders and able to balance workload across multiple projects, tasks and deadlines. Experience of stakeholder engagement, with excellent listening, communication and influencing skills and ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy; proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships and networks.The contractual base for this role is our Cambridge office where the team is based, however we are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will have the opportunity to also work from a UK location other than this, as agreed with your line manager.There is an expectation that employees will attend the offices as needed for their role.
