Job Description

Job Overview:Are you a can-do, user-focused Information Developer who wants to work on ground-breaking technology for the world’s leading semiconductor IP company At Arm, you’re able to write content for Intellectual Property that influences 95% of the world’sconnected devices and all their applications.We have a great opportunity for you to join our Open-Source Software team in Cambridge, UK! As an OSS Technical Content Curator, you will develop customer-facing content in collaboration with Arm’s engineering and marketing teams. You will also be a memberof a global community of information developers working together to create content which will help Arms customers succeed. You will work directly with engineers across the company with a major focus on the open-source software we develop and maintain. Youwill have a direct impact on how developers access, understand and consume our software and the ability to deliver improvements for our customers as part of a growing, fast-paced, and lively team!What does the role achieve/deliver for ARMThe development and publishing of stories and guides, walk-throughs and examples to compliment the open source work we do.The creation of well-structured, and up-to-date technical content that increasescomprehension and ease of use - and adheres to our Tech Comms writing standards.Ensuring technical collateral for our software work is easily found and consumed by collaborators who are outside Arm but within the Arm ecosystem.As part of the Open-Source SoftwareGroup, our Content Curation team produces and guides the creation of the technical content for Arm’s open-source software projects. This content can include user documentation, blogs, white papers, introductory guides, knowledge-base articles, tutorials, andmultimedia content.As a community, we guide, encourage, and share knowledge with each other. For larger projects, we work together to build and deliver content or develop streamlined processes.Responsibilities:Planning documentation againstthe product roadmap ensuring documentation quality and our ability to meet customer demand.

  • Creating, coordinating, and maintaining content for multiple OSS projects, without supervision. The role will include a mix of:
  • Hands-on content creation and improving the clarity and consistency of content targeted for a global audience.
  • Ownership of multiple activities, including mentoring, and/or coaching
  • Collaborating with others in OSS to implement the best processes and practices for the technical information you produce.
  • Identifying user needs as a customer advocate to generate content that helps our customers and partners achieve their jobs and goals.
  • Collaborating extensively with domain experts in project/product management, marketing, support to identify and address information gaps.
  • Looking for innovation opportunities to improve efficiency with tooling and content auto-generation.
  • Verifying a team’s documentation releases to ensure the quality of customer-facing content, and to align with the Arm Tech. Comms Lifecycle Management process.
  • Providing direction and guidance for engineers, architects and technology managers who are documenting our work.
The role reports into the OSS Technology Management Team and works in direct partnership with:
  • Software Engineers, Architects, Technology managers and other Information Developers and SMEs elsewhere in Arm.
  • Project Managers, Product Managers, collaborators from the Arm lines of business.
  • Relevant peer review teams and the Tools & Methodology group.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proven ability in authoring and leading independent projects end to end.
  • University graduate/post graduate level in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent technical study.
  • Self-starter, able to work from own initiative, with good judgement and clear decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent Information Development Skills, in addition to a strong grasp of the editorial process.
  • Very good understanding of industry standard tools and technologies with the ability to learn and adapt.
  • Excellent collaborator management skills, analytical skills, and time management skills.
  • Creative, dynamic, and insightful.
  • Enjoys learning about new technologies especially around computer architecture, microprocessors, or related technical fields.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in the Semiconductor, processor architecture and/or open-source software domains
  • Experience in technical writing tools and open-source documentation practices.
  • Experience in generation of content from engineering source (e.g., Markdown) and exposure to environments such as Jenkins, DITA, JSON, YAML and Python.
