Job Description

This is a great opportunity for a Principal level Scientist to become Head of Hair Science and Claims with a global company with a strong brand. Based just outside of Cambridge in the product R&D Facility.The Head of Hair Science and Claims will lead a team of scientists and working with marketing managers, project managers, engineers, and external consultants to develop, support, and test a range of technically leading hair care products.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver hair science research programs internally to build understanding, knowledge, and value to the brand.
  • Supporting Marketing and Legal teams in the risk assessment of new product claims, communicated on the packaging, online, and at point of sale.
  • Draw upon third-party expertise to ensure substantiation of product performance supported by scientific claims.
  • Manage and support the Hair Science and Claims team in the setup, analysis, and interpretation of test results and coaching incorrect experimental methods and practices.
    • KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
  • Ideally, minimum 2:1 degree educated in physics, chemistry, or material science with good scientific method possibly with post graduate degree or post-doctorate experience.
  • The role would suit a physicist, materials scientist, bio-chemist, or chemical engineer and will expose the person to new technologies at various stages of development.
  • Significant and demonstrable post-graduate experience working in a relevant business.
  • Previous experience working within consumer product development (desirable).
  • Previous experience with product testing and statistical analysis (desirable).
  • Previous experience working on hair care products (desirable).
  • Energy and enthusiasm for product development working in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional planning and organising skills working within exacting timescales.
  • Actively seeks to build and develop relationships both internally and externally.
