Postdoc Fellow- Glycobiologist and BiophysicistCambridge, UKCompetitive Salary on OfferNot considering an Industry Postdoc Maybe you should be..About the Opportunity: In this challenging and rewarding Postdoc, you’ll be working on novel, uniquely engineered proteins with therapeutic potential. This collaborative research project will involve exploration of novel sugars and their incorporation into proteins for efficient bio-conjugation strategies. Expanding capabilities of GalaXy system to include generation of novel class of therapeutics and therapeutically relevant target antigens. Understanding metabolic pathways involved in controlled with either GalNAc or GalNAzin GALE KO cells is also vital in this role. Ultimately, the successful Postdoc’s research will expand capabilities in analysis of O-glycosylated proteins which would allow both qualitative and quantitative assessment of O-glycansHere’s a chance to take your scientific expertise to make a real difference!Essential Education and Experience:

  • PhD in glycobiology, cell biology, biochemistry or biotechnology
  • Hands-on experience with cloning, protein expression and purification, cell culture
  • Experience with biophysical methods for analysis of oligosaccharides from mammalian proteins
  • Understanding of protein glycobiology and regulatory pathways for oligosaccharide synthesis
  • High quality reporting/presentation of the data
    • Desirable Qualifications:
  • Familiar with LC-MS analysis to assess post-translational modifications in biologics
  • Familiar with protein bio-conjugation techniques using for example CLICK chemistry
  • Experience with antibody-drug conjugates
  • Experience with cell-based assays and FACS
  • Proven publication record in the field
    • Skills and Capabilities required:
  • High level of critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • This is a 3-year programme. 2 years will be a Fixed Term Contract, with a 1-year extension which will be merit based.
