Job Description

Are you looking for a rewarding and varied role in facilities managementDo you have experience in providing soft facilities services to buildings and tenants Do you enjoy working in a dynamic and diverse environmentIf so, you might be interested in joining the Facilities Management team. We are looking for a house porter to support the academic community and contribute to the smooth running of the buildings and sites.As a house porter, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing morning or evening site and building inspections
  • Providing site security, including unlocking and locking up, and responding to security incidents
  • Monitoring and reporting on the cleaning standards within the buildings
  • Setting and resetting of seminar rooms, lecture theatres and event spaces
  • Co-ordinating access and logistics for office moves, and assisting where required
  • Carrying out general maintenance tasks, such as hanging noticeboards, painting, litter picking, and waste disposal
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Experience in a caretaker/porterage or similar role
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and visitors at all levels
  • Good time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Flexibility and willingness to work non-standard, unsocial hours and weekends as part of a shift system.
