Job Description

Exceptional Benefits Package Your new companyA rapidly growing biotech, holding an ever-advancing profile within the European markets for their work within the Oncology field. Recently completing a round of funding and collaborations with two world-leading pharmaceutical companies - allowing the capacityto progress their portfolio of projects and diversify and strengthen their expanding team.Your new role and responsibilitiesAs a Medicinal Chemistry Project Leader, you will utilise your extensive background to carry out successful project delivery, overcoming comprehensive drug discovery challenges along the way to lead specific programmes across the drug discovery project portfolio. You will work closely with other scientists including biologists, pharmacologists, pharmacokineticists and computational chemists, working across hit ID and lead optimisation phases.

  • Build and lead the performance of project teams, ensuring project milestones are achieved, liaising with internal scientific personnel as well as external collaborators eg. CROs
  • Design and deliver project plans, outlining defined milestones through personal contribution and matrix management
  • Contribute to building intellectual property, utilising electronic lab software, and filing patent applications
  • Design and deliver medicinal chemistry strategy for a wide variety of portfolio programmes
  • Contribute your medicinal chemistry expertise in areas such as drug design and synthesis, data analysis and DMPK
  • Present project plans and results both internally and externally
What youll need to succeed
  • Significant experience gained within a Pharma/Biotech drug discovery environment - proven track record of leadership of projects to key milestones
  • Industry leading understanding of small molecule drug discovery, including structure-based design, optimisation, and utilising computational chemistry tools
  • Exceptional knowledge of contemporary synthetic methods and their utilisation to provide efficient routes of synthesis to reach target molecules
  • Experienced in patent analysis, competitive intelligence awareness and strategic awareness
  • Extensive experience implementing medicinal chemistry strategies leading to high quality candidate molecules
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced drug discovery environment, contributing to delivery of multiple projects in tandem
  • Outstanding reputation within your field - displayed through publication and conference presentations
