Job Description

Our client, a growing high precision engineering business in the Cambridge area, are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter. This is a rare opportunity to work in an innovative environment working on complex machinery that is truly innovative.As a result of winning some major contracts for new work, they have expanded their premises and are looking to increase the size of their Mechanical Fitting team. This role will involve working on their newest product, which has been in development for severalyears. As a result of building out a new team, they are prepared to consider candidates from a wide range of backgrounds.Mechanical Fitter Job Role:

  • Work in vacuum fitting and helium leak detection
  • Practical sheet metal work and working with soldering/brazing
  • Able to work from detailed assembly and component drawings
  • Inspect mechanical components for dimensional accuracy as and when required
  • Willing to undertake any relevant training
  • Possess knowledge of QC procedures and be able to follow them
  • Be aware of any safety requirements relevant to the job role
  • Assist with the maintenance of factory equipment and buildings
Candidate Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a mechanical fitter
  • Manual skills, such as using manual mills and lathes would be an advantage
  • Experience of fitting and accurate measuring
  • Able to learn new skills and follow procedures
  • Methodical and meticulous approach to designated tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • "Can do" attitude and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business
  • Desire to maintain and promote a safe, clean, tidy and amicable working environment
  • Motivated, self-starter
