Job Description

This role is for an exciting Microfluidics/MEMS start-up company who are set to revolutionise gene synthesis as part of their fast-growing expansion in the field of synthetic biology. As their first dedicated Manufacturing Engineer, you will be an integral part of the close-knit multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electronic and software engineers, synthetic and surface chemists, physicists, and biologists, all working towards the first product release in 2022.Manufacturing Engineer Role: Over the next two years you will be assisting the transition from one-off prototypes, through to Beta prototypes and low volume production. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will be able to demonstrate the impact made in the transfer to manufacture of previous projects and designs.Manufacturing Engineering Requirements:

  • Ability to work as part of a team delivering innovative and reliable products into production.
  • Extensive knowledge of a wide range of materials, manufacturing techniques, and assembly processes.
  • Previous experience with silicon, lab-on-chip electromechanical or microfluidic packages.
  • Express a wide range of technical disciplines, working alongside chemists and physicists.
  • Strong experience with CAD, ability to create 2D drawings and the ability to check over the work of others.
  • Desirable experience:
  • Background working within life sciences, medical devices, ink-jet printing, or scientific instrumental design.
  • Proven track record developing durable and consumable element systems.
  • Experience working effectively with external suppliers and partners.
  • Able to work to proven industry quality standards such as ISO13485.
  • Evidence showing leadership skills in the manufacturing/process development areas.
