Job Description

Our client, a growing high precision engineering business in the Cambridge area, are looking to recruit an experienced Manual Machinist. This is a rare opportunity to work for an innovative business working on complex machinery that is truly innovative.As a result of winning some major contracts for new work, they have expanded their premises and are looking to hire a Manual Machinist. You will be working in a high-precision environment, developing intricate precision components. Most of the work willbe project based, with a strong emphasis on bespoke development work.Machinist Job Role:

  • Primary focus will be operation of manual mills, lathes, grinders, and belt sanders
  • Working from detailed assembly and component drawings
  • Inspect mechanical components
  • Willing to undertake any relevant training on machinery
  • Possess knowledge of SOPs and be able to follow them
  • Be aware of any safety requirements relevant to the job role
  • Assist with the maintenance of factory equipment and machinery
Candidate Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a machinist, ideally manual
  • Manual skills, such as using manual mills and lathes would be an advantage
  • Experience of working with precision machining
  • Able to learn new skills and follow procedures
  • Methodical and meticulous approach to designated tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • "Can do" attitude and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business
  • Desire to maintain and promote a safe, clean, tidy and amicable working environment
  • Motivated, self-starter
