Job Description

MammographerPackage: £40,000 + 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) + private healthcare & dental + pensionBased: CambridgeRef: CM2020MAMKey areas for the role will be:

  • To support all aspects of the pathway of every patient receiving diagnostic imaging and intervention in the centre
  • To work in the different imaging areas of the treatment centre within the individual’s area of competence, so that all operational objectives and standards are achieved, and the reputation for exceptional service and outcomes is maintained at all times
  • To work with the clinical and administrative team
  • To work alongside radiologists ensuring a smooth end to end process for all diagnostic imaging patients
  • To participate in department QA and Audit programmes
  • To participate in Peer review to ensure recall rate is below national guidelines
  • To work, when required, in additional modalities within the individual’s area of competence
  • To work, if required, to cover other centres Diagnostic services in areas of competence
  • You would be responsible for:
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, privacy, courtesy and kindness with all staff and patients.
  • Effectively liaise in a multi-disciplinary approach with clinics to give an effective, timely service to patients
  • Effectively assessing the patients verbal and non-verbal cues to gain their cooperation to reduce anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures, equipment and answering any questions if necessary.
  • To be able to organise and structure own workload, mammographic and clinic support
  • Achieve and maintain a high standard of basic mammographic, supplementary and modified techniques and any further techniques in screening and symptomatic services to work to current national and local protocols.
  • Support with any other aspects of breast clinic which includes Interventional procedures - core biopsy, wire localisation,
  • To ensure images are presented through PACS (with any previous imaging if appropriate) ready for clinical reporting
  • Work appropriately as an autonomous practitioner and use own initiative to problem solve minor equipment faults and support patients concerns about their examination
  • Ensure impeccable documentation of patients notes and any clinical history and observations are noted in appropriate electronic systems
  • Ensure operation of equipment is regularly QA, any faults are documented appropriately and reported.
  • Keep stock levels appropriate for clinic and order if/when required
  • Support new staff clinical and non, as required, with induction programmes
  • To be flexible and adapt to short notice rota changes to cover sickness and other emergencies
  • Adhere to IR(ME)R regulations, IRR99, COSHH, H&S, Infection Control and any other policies
  • Keep up to date with new developments, techniques, equipment and any knowledge is shared with peers
  • To be responsible for own active engagement in continual professional development on a regular basis and to maintain a portfolio of evidence
  • To undertake other duties not specified here but within the general scope and grade of the post, which may be delegated from Lead Diagnostic Radiographer
  • What do you have that we wantExperience and Skills:
  • Able to demonstrate post-qualification experience in Mammography -Essential
  • Experience in/understanding of UK diagnostic radiography - Desirable
  • Varied experience within all aspects of radiography; general/CT/MRI/US/PACS - Desirable
  • Evidence of effective staff liaison and co-operative working
  • Evidence of empathetic and a holistic approach to patient care
  • Experience in private health sector - Desirable
  • Experience with resolving complaints satisfactorily
  • Some knowledge of report writing
  • Evidence of effective organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Able to make independent judgments/decisions, ability to solve problems
  • Able to work flexibly to achieve business objectives
  • Able to act as a trainer and mentor for new/more junior staff
  • Qualifications and Knowledge:
  • DCR (T) or BSc (Hons) in Radiography (or equivalent)
  • HCPC registration
  • Certificate in Mammography
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
