Job Description

Data Machine Learning Engineer (Mid to Senior Level)Cambridge, Cambridgeshire£40,000-£80,000+Part Remote Working AvailableWe are looking for multiple Machine Learning Engineers to work with one of the UKs largest privately owned companies, based in Cambridge. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, for a number of clients like Apple, Sky & Aston Martin. You will enjoy performing meaningful data analysis and building predictive and prescriptive models that directly contribute to converting companys logistics facilities into the "Factories of the future".Machine Learning Engineer:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD (preferred) in a quantitative or technical discipline (Computer Science, Maths/Statistics, NatSci, Engineering or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Understanding of statistical analysis
  • Experience with and ability to use machine learning techniques to achieve a useful and verified outcome (e.g. cost saving)
  • Experience with working on large and small data sets and data pre-processing/wrangling
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and backend systems is a plus
  • Strong organisational and self-starting skills, happy to work in a team, learn and regularly communicate the results using data visualisation tools if necessary
  • You should have demonstrable experience in at least one of the following:
  • Time-series forecasting (e.g. auto-regressive models)
  • Probabilistic machine learning (e.g. Gaussian processes)
  • Discrete event simulation (e.g. SimPy or pure Python). Experience with simulation in general, even if not discrete event simulation, is considered an advantage.
  • Discrete optimisation (e.g. genetic algorithms, branch & bound, constraint programming), demonstrating capacity to implement customised algorithms (as opposed to using standard, off the shelf methods).
