Job Description

Our client, an exciting early-stage biotech company based in the Cambridge area, are currently seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer to take up a leading position within their team of experienced engineers.Lead Design Engineer RoleYou will be working to develop and deliver a product design that is novel and realisable against various measurable. You will take ownership of the usability of the product platform, whilst contributing to overall system architecture. You will be collaborating closely with electronics and fluidics engineers in this work.You will also advise on manufacturing solutions for all physical parts of the physical platform, and will lead best practice DFMA design and assembly. This role is driven by technological development and will suit a flexible, adaptable and highly technology driven individual.Lead Design EngineerExperienceYou will be degree qualified in Mechanical / Product Design Engineering with significant industry experience and a track record of delivering innovative products to market.Essentials:

  • Proven experience in a Lead Designer/Engineer role working with a team of engineers to deliver a singular product
  • Extensive experience of the full product lifecycle for low to medium volume manufacturing
  • Skilled in developing products that bring together electrical and fluidic elements
  • Adept at working with various stakeholders to deliver designs that are the best compromise between form and function
  • Expert in 3D CAD (ideally SolidWorks), including advanced assembly work
  • Desirables:
  • Experience of working within a quality management system such as ISO13485
  • Background of working on scientific instrument design or related products
  • Experience of working with Contract Electronics Manufacturers during NPI
