DEVELOPMENT SURVEYOR / GRADUATE DEVELOPMEN SURVEYOR

My client is an entrepreneurial investment company managing a portfolio of real estate projects. They manage investments in strategic land, commercial property, renewables, and other real estate related opportunities. The Board is supported by considerablein-house professional resource including chartered surveyors, town planners and engineers. he operate all over the UK.The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join a very successful and fast-growing business, in a role focused on acquiring and managing sites for the Land Team. The candidates initial role will be to assist with the acquisition of new projects and execute theagreed business plan.The day to day focus will be identifying and appraising new opportunities. This will typically involve assisting with site searching initiatives and over time grow their own network of Land Agents. In liaison with the internal Planning and Technical Teamsthe candidate will be expected to assist with the preparation of Bids, Board Reports and Investment Memorandums. The sourcing of sites is an important of part of the business and key to executing the agreed business plan. Current examples of sites securedinclude Hockley, Kelvedon, Thetford.The Land Team have an ambitious 3 year business plan to grow the business, increasing assets under management and the strategic land bank. The candidate will be an integral part of this growth. There is a focus on the Eastern and South East regions, outsideof central London, where the business can capitalise on their contacts and knowledge.You will report to and communicate with directors and the chairman regularly.The Candidate will be required to assist with:
  • Sourcing and securing relevant sites, where possible off market.
  • Identification of potential sites through targeted strategic trawls.
  • Liaising with team to prepare and present the business case for new projects to the Land and Planning Committee.
  • Preparing development appraisals.
  • Preparing bids and drafting offer letters.
  • Drafting Information Memorandums presenting the investment case to The Board and external Investors.
  • Providing commercial input into planning applications.
  • Keeping landowner partners up to date with planning progress.
  • Instructing and working alongside lawyers.
  • Reporting quarterly to Board and Investors.
  • Contributing to the clients wider corporate aspirations
  • Building up their own network of Land Agents
Experience and personal qualities
  • Preferably recently qualified (MRICS)
  • Experience of working either within a professional services firm or housebuilder / developer.
  • Capable of working within a close-knit team, albeit with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with strong ambition to succeed.
  • A strong confident personality.
  • A desire to learn new skills.
  • A highly organised and self-motivated individual.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High quality report writing skills.
  • Strong understanding of the due diligence process.
  • Highly numerate with good Microsoft Excel proficiency.
