Job Description

Integrated quantum photonic chips offer the promise of a convenient, scalable platform for performing tasks such as quantum communication and information processing. This Cambridge based organisation are looking for a Technical Lead to manage a small team.This is an opportunity to join an award-winning company as they conquer they shape the future of Quantum Photonics.The Role:

  • Hands-on technical lead/manager for a small team
  • Project manage integrated photonic development projects, including liaising with external partners and suppliers and supporting NPI activities
  • Design, simulate and validate PICs for quantum computing/networking applications
  • Advise on and support relevant clean room process/fabrication activities
About you:
  • PhD with a significant focus on integrated photonics
  • Significant experience working on and leading the development of PICs, ideally for quantum applications
  • Significant experience with design, simulation, final layout and characterisation of photonic devices and ICs
  • Familiarity with PIC foundry PDKs, and optimisation of circuit elements to support operation at non-standard wavelengths
  • Experience with high-efficiency fibre-to-chip coupling techniques
  • Some, or all of the following experience:
    • Implementing, interfacing and characterising high-speed, low-loss electro-optical switching structures in PICs
    • PIC fabrication techniques and process optimisation
    • Lithium Niobate photonic integrated circuits
    • Single photon detection devices
