Job Description

Role: HR AdvisorSector: Public and Not-for-ProfitDuration: PermanentLocation: CambridgeSalary: up to £35,000 (Dependant on experience)Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor to join our client in Cambridge on a permanent basis, working on a hybrid basis.The ideal HR Advisor will be working as part of a dedicated team to offer an outstanding HR Service for the organisation and the delivery of the workforce strategy. The appointed candidate will be responsible for leading, advising and supporting on all HRactivities in line with the departments organisational objectives.The duties of the HR Advisor include:

  • Build strong relationships with managers to support the effective implementation of HR policies and procedures, developing a culture of supportive and challenging leadership across the organisation
  • Coordinate the recruitment, selection, induction, and probation processes, supporting managers to ensure these are followed and strategies implemented to achieve the appointment of staff
  • Advise and support managers with absence management cases, leading on processes, occupational health referrals and written accounts of review to ensure staff and management are clear on the process
  • Advise and support managers with investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, co-ordinate meeting, provide written notes and letters to staff and ensuring fair, legal, and organisational practices are following
  • Advise and facilitate in situations of change where there are HR implications (i.e. restructures, TUPE Transfers)
  • Use a pro-active approach to the HR service, deal with all staff queries relating to HR and staff development matters efficiently
  • Complete job analysis and evaluation in line with the organisations procedures
  • Keep up to date with employment law and further developments and ensure that HR activities remain compliant
  • Maintain strict confidentiality over employee records, data and information to ensure full compliance within the data protection Act, whilst accommodating the Freedom of Information Act
  • Support the HR administrators with the completion of administration for the HR service including issuing of contracts of employment, providing information to payroll and ensure the HRMS and other monitoring sources are updated as appropriate
  • Ensure continuous compliance with safeguarding requirements through keeping up to date on changes to legislation
  • Ensure that safeguarding requirements for the department are adhered to, including maintenance of the single central record, DBS processing and coordination of safeguarding training
  • Coordinate and undertake the process for on-boarding new staff to the organisation and off-boarding (i.e. exit interviews)
  • Support the delivery of in-house training and development for managers in HR practice.
The HR Advisor will ideally have:
  • Experience within the public sector
  • CIPD Qualified or equivalent HR experience
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate courses to update and upskill
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement
  • Experience of providing professional advice and guidance to managers on a full range of HR issues.
The HR Advisor will need to have excellent communication skills and effectively be able to communicate to stakeholders of all levels. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all workload is carried outeffectively and efficiently.
