GAP YEAR OPPORTUNITIES!PA / Study Buddy / Flat MateAskJules specialise in helping physically disabled university students recruit and employ Personal Assistants to provide their personal care and academic support.We have vacancies to work for students attending universities in Cambridge and across the UK for the academic year 2021/22.Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a Personal Assistant.Start: September 2021 at university or sooner at student’s home.Training: Full training in the students particular care and support requirements is provided.NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!Reporting to and employed by: StudentREMUNERATIONLIVE-OUT Positions: Day shift: 7am to 7pmNight shift: 7pm to 7am3 and 4 shifts (36 and 48 hours) alternate weeks.Duties will include a variety of daytime, evening and overnight shifts including weekends. There may be the opportunity to work extra days/weeks at university or at home during the holidays.Example wage for 4 x 12-hour shifts: £576.00LIVE-IN Positions:"Job share" and "flatmate" type of role - working one week on and one week off. You will reside in an adjacent student room whilst on shift. To be "on-call" during the day with a "sleeping night". There may be the opportunity to work extra days/weeks at university or at home during the holidays.Example wage for a 7-day week Live-In: £840.00PERSON SPECIFICATIONWe seek to recruit enthusiastic, outgoing individuals, preferably recent graduates or people with equivalent experience, to the posts of Personal Assistant.We are looking for candidates interested in working in a university environment, who have an interest in teaching or education generally, social services, or the health care sector.     • JOB SPECIFICATIONGeneral ResponsibilitiesAs a Personal Assistant, you will be an integral part of the students university experience. The primary role is to provide quality care and academic support to our young client at university and in some cases at home during the holidays.You will work under the direction of the student with the support and guidance of AskJules Ltd.You will have access to and be responsible for confidential information and documentation and must ensure confidential or sensitive material is handled appropriately and accurately.Students are wheelchair users and employ PAs to help with all the things their disability prevents them from doing for themselves including personal care.Specific ResponsibilitiesAs a Personal Assistant, you will be required to:
  • Work closely with the student, undertaking duties on an hourly or weekly rota covering 24/7.
  • Duties will include personal care, academic and social support;
  • Work with the team to ensure information and issues arising during your shift are correctly reported and followed-up;
  • Assist the student with administration tasks as required;
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues.
  • Assist in emergency evacuations in halls, if the situation arises, as instructed by the halls manager;
  • Encourage the student to engage in clubs/activities and societies;
  • Maintain good order, appearance, and behaviour.
  • Establish a productive relationship with the student, acting as a role model and setting high expectations for their study and coursework;
  • Assist the student with the organisation of events and extra-curricular activities;
  • Support student if required with note-taking during lectures, seminars, and meetings.
  • Drive and accompany the student to appointments, social events, and home.
