Job Description

My client is looking to recruit a Financial Controller for this newly created role where you will have significant responsibility to shape the department, its systems, and processes. They currently out-source all their financial activities and are now lookingto bring these in house. The role is key within their business, and although there will be a strategic element to the role you must be prepared to be hands-on. The role is with a business who has seen good growth in their sector and has exciting plans forthe future. Reporting to the CEO, you will be a commercially astute accountant with a solid foundation in management and financial accounting.Key ResponsibilitiesOrganisation & Strategic

  • Develop the Finance Department, proposing and implementing systems and processes to streamline the company’s financial management.
  • Propose and implement initiatives to automate current manual processes.
  • Translate business strategy into plans and establish KPIs and targets, evaluating the financial implications of various strategic decisions and identifying risks and driving results.
  • Identify and implement relevant tax efficient schemes for R&D, investment, or other matters.
  • Manage & mentor the existing Finance Administrator
Financial Management
  • Responsible for all day-to-day finance and accounting functions of the company, including bank account management, VAT, payroll, HMRC, company benefits, company insurances, daily cash flow and working capital management.
  • Responsibility for all areas of tax - liaise with external advisors for VAT & Corporation tax returns.
  • Manage the statutory year end process, liaising with external auditors to prepare and publish financial statements in a timely manner.
Forecasting, Budgeting & Reporting
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process (monthly, quarterly, annual, multi-year) working with other departments for insights on sales and costs.
  • Produce reporting packs including management and group reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • Develop financing, staffing and plans in relation to company goals and objectives.
Key Skills
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and experience in a financial leadership role
  • Experience implementing new systems and processes to a scaling business.
  • Flexible approach and can adapt to changing landscape.
  • Experience in the software or similar industry would be preferred.

You will be an engaging communicator with the ability to build effective relationships within the business and with external partners.The role is office based with some hybrid working. The office is located in close walking distance to Cambridge train station or there is also parking on site.The role will offer a base salary of up to £70k + bonus + 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays) + 6% pension + healthcare.
