Job Description

Financial Controller; 9-12 Month Contract; Based in Cambridge; 37 hours per week; Pay; Up to 419 per day(umbrella) We are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on behalf of our client based in Cambridge. Key Responsibilities of the role Management Reporting & Budgeting: Monitor and ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial management information to enable the Management Team to run the business efficiently. This will include analysis of monthly results, exception reporting and trend analysis in addition to preparation of ad hoc financial information required to support key business decisions. Lead the planning and forecasting process for the Company. Statutory Reporting and Tax: Manage the year end audit including the preparation of the audit files, statutory accounts and the Research and Development tax credit. Financial Control: Ensure the Firms financial policies and procedures are implemented and appropriate financial controls are in place and adhered to. This will include management and review of the balance sheet; particularly work in progress and receivables balances to ensure they are fairly stated and revenue recognition policies correctly are applied. Oversee the matching of Purchase orders to Invoices within Concur and pulled through to Sage so suppliers and employee expenses are paid in a timely way. Manage the cash flow to ensure loan drawdowns are taken appropriately. Finance Systems & Reporting: To contribute to the development of the Companys finance systems and reporting to ensure they continue to meet the evolving information needs of the business and the wider Group reporting requirements. A strong understanding of the Companys current systems in order to ensure information needs are met in an effective manner Contribution to a project to replace the current solution with a new ERP system. Taking ownership and ensuring accuracy of Financial Reporting data held in the system. Other support activities: Being part of a smaller organisation, this role will fulfil other tasks which support the wider company community. Team: Provide strong leadership to the Finance Team. Ensure the team is effectively managed and has a strong customer service approach To encourage the sharing of knowledge and process improvement and the standardisation of reporting and processes where appropriate. Key Requirements The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and will be able to demonstrate: Previous experience of good financial performance management A good understanding of the key drivers and commercial issues which impact on the Company Strong analytical skills with an ability to work under pressure A proactive approach and the ability to operate effectively with minimal guidance Enthusiasm for change and receptive to new ideas Ability to quickly build strong relationships with peers, team members and within the wider organisation Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver persuasive argument to senior stakeholders Ability to manage and motivate a team, instilling a culture of ownership and accountability. Experience of working within a small/ start-up organisational environment would be advantageous. Please note that this role is inside IR35.
