Job Description

The CompanyGreens of Soham is part of Spearhead International which farms over 90,000 Ha across the UK and Central and Eastern Europe with a well-established track record of delivering solid business and revenue growth. In the UK we farm in excess of 4,000 Ha, primarily in East Anglia but with operations also in Sussex, Northumberland and the Scottish borders. Our primary focus is potatoes and beetroot and we are the largest grower of these crops in the UK. In addition, we grow onions alongside traditional cereal and sugar beet crops.The RoleThe purpose of the role is to support the farm management team and esnure a smooth link between the operational and finance areas, as well as ensuring the correct information is acquired for compliance and quality control. Field applications and crop inputs are currently recorded using Gatekeeper but there is a proposed implementation of Muddy Boots in 2020. Much of the role will be to assist and develop the timely and accurate recording of crop production costs and output.The Tasks

  • Recording of all field applications; including sprays, fertiliser and operational activities.
  • Use the mapping tools for creation of location guides, planting records, and support of precision farming applications.
  • Produce analysis reports for crops: applications, costs, and returns.
  • Develop and improve current crop input recording systems.
  • Support the farm management team with purchase ordering and receipting in NetSuite.
  • Maintain updated crop input price lists and ensure they are synchronised correctly with finance software.
  • Use the NetSuite finance system for any queries relating to cost and support finance team with operational details as required.
  • Arranging annual soil analysis for soil pest and nutrients and liaising with contractor.
  • Providing support to the farm management team for crop protocols, technical audits and maintaining spray operator training records.
  • Assist in customer order taking, allocation of orders to production teams and overseeing recording onto the Stockboard.
  • Provide training and support to farm staff for data collection and accurate timely cost allocation.
  • Other tasks as they are delegated to you.

  • Produce analysis reports of crops, application and cost for regular updates and ad hoc.
  • Ensure invoices and purchase orders are synchronised correctly with finance system.
  • Use the NetSuite finance system for any queries relating to cost.
  • Other tasks as they are delegated to you .
  • The PersonThe role requires someone with solid administration experience and preferably agricultural experience. Previous use of a farm or manufacturing databases is desirable. The successful applicant needs to be able to cope with a fast-paced environment and process high volumes of data. Attention to detail is required as is the ability to take responsibility and ownership of the role and show initiative.The PackageThe role is based at one of the UK farms, Lords Ground Farm in Swaffham Prior CB25 0LQ. The site is fairly remote with limited public transport, so driving/transport is essential. This is a full-time role although part time will be considered.
