Job Description

Epidemiology lead, global pharmaceutical company, London / Cambridge. Strategic & hands-on, oncology Your new companyYou will be joining a top-tier global pharmaceutical company widely recognised as one of the leaders in the field.They have a very strong pipeline of new drugs with multiple launches expected to bolster their already significant portfolio.Due to this theyre looking to grow their Epidemiology and Real World Data team in Cambridge. This exciting company are hiring multiple positions, both contract and permanent from Associate Director through to Senior Director, to set up and lead a range of epidemiology studies across multiple regions.Your new roleThis is a senior position, involving a mix of hands-on and strategic responsibilities, helping to advance the companys portfolio of products and gather evidence to support a range of clinical and observational studies within their oncology section.You will be providing leadership within cross-functional teams and working with colleagues from multiple departments, including Medical, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Statistics, Clinical Development, etc in sites across several countries / regions and be able to make a strong impact on the company.This position can be partly home-based / remote.This contract is very likely to extend to 12+ months and is outside IR35Other responsibilities will include:

  • Drawing insights out of large scale epidemiology / observational / real-world data sets to help shape the companys R&D and clinical portfolio of medicines within oncology;
  • Leading a portfolio of observational research studies, including innovative method development;
  • Work in cross-functional teams, in combination with colleagues across departments such as Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Patient Safety and Clinical Development;
  • Reviewing and keeping up to date on new regulations and processes to ensure research projects are optimised;
  • Developing and implementing observational research strategy, SOPs, policies and frameworks across multiple countries;
  • Helping guide medical evidence plans and provide answers to regulatory authority queries;
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders, including CROs and data providers; and
  • Identify and fix potential shortfalls and gaps within the companys observational research strategy.
  • What youll need to succeedAs well as excellent communication, organisational and senior management skills, you will need to demonstrate the following:
  • A track record of leading epidemiology / observational research / real world studies, ideally across multiple countries or regions within oncology;
  • At least an MSc (or equivalent) in statistics, epidemiology, health economics, outcomes / health policy research, or a related discipline - with a strong preference for a PhD;
  • Exposure to issues surrounding drug development;
  • An excellent knowledge of study design and implementation for large-scale epidemiological / observational studies;
  • The ability to relay complex, technical information from real world studies to cross-functional teams, stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategies for epidemiological research would be an advantage for this role.Candidates with direct experience of working for pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO or consultancy companies in this sector are at a distinct advantage.What youll get in returnThis is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on the business and develop your career within a prestigious pharmaceutical company with a great corporate atmosphere.
