Job Description

This is a fascinating position for a start up business based in Cambridge. Tec Partners are exclusively working with a robotics business who are looking for a Electronics Engineer with a background in Robotics. You will have the opportunity to create adaptive robots that are able to operate in non-controllable environments. This is a fast-paced environment, where you will be collaborating with a close-knit team of Machine Learning Experts and Engineers that will be developing leading edge solutions, focused on the delivery of innovative technologies.Responsibilities include the following:

  • Design highly integrated PCBs which have a mixture of power, digital and analogue electronics for state-of-the-art robotic systems within Solidworks PCB and Electrical packages.
  • Capture schematics and guide the PCB layout process to ensure new and updated designs meet mechanical, regulatory and EMC constraints
  • Lead prototype and testing activities in all design development phases
  • Work with mechanical and software teams to ensure designs are optimised for integration with other system components and the manufacturing process
  • Write documentation for requirements, design, test and manufacturing instructions
  • Debug issues at PCB and system level and write technical documents to support findings
  • Work with external manufacturing partners to help maintain a design that can be manufactured and tested reliably and repeatedly
  • Work at all stages of the design cycle from concept and requirements capture through to transfer to manufacture.
  • Qualifications/Experience:The successful candidate will have most of the following:
  • Degree or HNC/HND in electrical/electronic/mechatronic engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience within PCB and electronics environments
  • Power supply design, SMPS design experience beneficial
  • Appreciation of embedded microprocessor systems, computer architectures, standard busses, displays, FPGAs
  • Mechanical 2D/3D CAD skills, Kicad and Solidworks desirable
  • Experience in some or all of the following is beneficial: ROS, controlling systems, robotics.
  • Knowledge of software development for embedded systems
  • Good problem solving, analytical and organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good team working ethic but able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Good working knowledge of MS-Office tools.
