Job Description

Debt AdviserHome based (East of England with travel throughout the country)About UsPerennial is the nations only charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture. Together with our network of partners, we provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for horticulturalists and their loved ones experiencingillness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown and financial difficulties.We have a real focus on improving health and wellbeing outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.Due to internal promotion, we are looking for an experienced, qualified debt adviser based in the East of England to join our team. This is a permanent, home-based role, working 37.5 hours per week including some weekend work and overnight stays.The Benefits- Salary of £28,237 per annum- 25 days annual leave per annum (FTE), plus bank holidays (with increases for long service)- Pension scheme- Sick Pay- Death in Service Benefit (3x salary)- Extra (unpaid) leave- Time off for dependents, or variations to normal working hours- Company car or car benefitThis is a brilliant opportunity for a CEMAP qualified debt advisor with a desire to champion the wellbeing of people in need from the world of horticulture to join our unique charity.You will experience a heightened sense of job satisfaction as you give expert assistance to gardeners at a low ebb and help them get back on their feet financially.Whether working from the comfort of your own home or driving a company car around the country, every day will bring new experiences and chances to increase your skills, securing a better future for our clients and yourself!The RoleAs a Debt Advisor, you will provide a professional, confidential service to those who seek our help regarding their debts or money advice.You will deliver person-centred, impartial and easily understandable advice and support through face-to-face and home visits, video conferencing, email, telephone and more. You will enable people to make their own informed choices and will provide in-depth,holistic casework.Using our Prevent strategy, you will help individuals stop issues from reoccurring or escalating through technical and legal support.Additionally, you will:- Build relationships, liaise with statutory and voluntary organisations- Take responsibility for arranging and implementing services on a national basis- Effectively record and gather data to complete statistics, reports and procedures- Consistently manage a diverse and complex caseload- Raise awareness of our service to appropriate organisationsAbout YouTo be considered as a Debt Advisor, you will need:- At least two years experience in debt advice- A Certificate in Money Advice Practice (CertMAP)- Substantial experience of paid or voluntary work advising and advocating for people on a one-to-one basis- A genuine personal wish to champion the needs of people in need from the world of horticulture- Confidence working alone at home as well as being a productive member of an established remote team- Great communication skills when dealing with people from all walks of life- Confidence in picking up existing caseloads as well as taking on new cases- Sound knowledge of UK debt advice processes, case law, legislation and forthcoming changes- The ability to listen, interpret and analyse- Computer literacy- A valid driving licence- The ability to travel at all times throughout the country, often considerable distances- Willingness to work flexible hours and stay away from home overnight on occasionsIf you are an Approved Intermediary for Debt Relief Orders or have the training, skills and knowledge needed to become one, this would be very advantageous to your application.The closing date for this role is midnight on the 31st of August 2022Interviews are scheduled for the 8th of September 2022Webrecruit and Perennial are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment.
