Job Description

Data Engineering Lead | Medical Biosciences | Hybrid Working | Cambridgeshire | £80,000Are you a Data Engineering Lead or a Senior Data Engineer who has extensive experience managing teams As a Data Engineering Lead you will be responsible for a team of engineers including mid-level, Senior, Principle and Architects, within the operations departmentfor genomic research. You will lead the Data Engineering delivery team and play a key role in setting and implementing the organization data management strategy.Why JoinOur client is not only focused on making positive changes in society, but they also have a development plan supporting YOU with your growth.   • Lead and promote adoption of data best practices and processes.
  • Full line management responsibility for the Data Engineers including the recruitment, performance, and development of the teams
  • Provide vision and influence decisions around technical approach to data management and supporting tools.
  • Following Agile principles.
  • Create and maintain a maintenance roadmap for the data engineering systems.
  • Enabling and supporting the build and development of performant and maintainable data infrastructure and tools to meet the current and future needs.
  • Ensuring that data engineering work products follows established processes and work as intended.
  • Collaborating with the data protection officer functions to ensure that data is adhering to information governance policy
  • Building and maintaining operational working relationships with a range of UK and overseas third-party organisations.
  • Internal and External Stakeholder Management
Skills/Experience Required:
  • Extensive experience in defining and operating data driven systems that integrate data from multiple organisations.
  • Experience working with multiple organisations to access, process, aggregate and share data in near real time
  • Demonstrable understanding of big data engineering tools and how they can be used strategically (e.g. Spark, Prefect, Hive, Hadoop, Dask)
  • Python Development experience
  • Knowledge and experience with modern software development practices, including version
  • control, continuous integration and workflow management tools such as Jira, Gitlab, etc.
  • Experience of managing a team and coaching and developing staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills experience dealing with stakeholders at varying levels
