Job Title: Counsellor L2Hours: Thursdays (10am - 1pm)Main Purpose: To provide course leadership, contribute to academic delivery and the on-going development of the provision within University Studies.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are not shown in order of priority or frequency, nor is the list comprehensive, butrather an indication of the type and level of duties expected of the post.1. Fully participate in the development of the Course portfolio within Counsellingand related programmes with the Dept of Health & Human Sciences.2. Carry out academic administrative work specific to the programme and participation in relevantcommittees within the Department and University Studies.3. Attend course team meetings to oversee academic delivery, quality assurance processes andrespond to the student voice.4.- Develop and deliver high quality learning and teaching, including face to face, online andpractical teaching and assessment as required.- Design and facilitate effective assessment processes for students including the setting, markingand moderation of student work (theoretical and practical), individually or collectively as part ofa module team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.- Design and develop innovative and inspiring learning modules including, enhanced onlinelearning approaches.5. Participate in the development and delivery of short course programmes.6. Act as mentor to new members of staff and give support to other new team members whereappropriate, dependent on experience.7. Carry out general duties attached to the post on the College premises.Essential RequirementsA relevant honours degree or equivalent qualification in Counselling and / or Psychotherapy.Masters Degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy or related field.An accredited BACP / UKCP Psychotherapist and/or Counsellor.It is a requirement that all new entrants to teaching obtain the Certificate in Education (or equivalent) within 2 years (if full time) or 4 years (if part time) of taking up the post.Knowledge/SkillsAn inspiring academic that can raise aspirations and support learners in their progression.Up to date knowledge, experience, and expertise in Counselling, or psychotherapy education.Ability to develop a coherent programme strategy that aligns with Learning, Teaching and Assessment targets and Student Outcomes.Be able to participate (and lead where appropriate) on external reviews e.g., PSRB, QAA.Ability to share theoretical and vocational integrative counselling knowledge and skills to students.Ability to support the diverse academic and personal needs of individual student
