Job Description

Due to continuous growth of a company based on the outskirts of Cambridge we are recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller. You will be responsible for operating the machines on the Machine Shop floor and work as part of a team to meet all production plans. The company are a leading manufacturer in precision optical and electro-mechanical equipment and instrumentation. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who is dedicated and hard-working.Start: ASAPDuration: Temporary - Permanent Location: Outskirts of Cambridge, CambridgeshireHours: Shift A: Monday - Thursday 6am - 2pm, Friday 6am - 1pm alternating with Shift B: Monday - Thursday 2pm - 10pm, Friday 1pm - 7pmHourly Rate: Shift A: £9.00 an hour + holiday pay / Shift B: £10.35 an hour + holiday payAs part of the interview process you will be asked to read an engineering drawing and explain to the Team Leader how you would interpret it. You will also be asked to do a short CNC Miller Test on one of the machines to establish your level of skills.Duties will include:

  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Working to strict company standards and procedures
  • Setting up new products on the CNC machines and recording information
  • Operating machines as required to maximise product output
  • Ensuring output and quality targets are achieved
  • QC of products and checking measurements and tolerances
  • Ensuring that quality targets are achieved and optimising product performance
  • Carry out regular maintenance and cleaning of the machines
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety and Environmental precautions are always followed
  • Key skills and attributes required:
  • Experience with Hurco or Matsuura Machinery would be an advantage
  • Attention to detail with focus on quality
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision
  • You will ideally come from an engineering or manufacturing background
  • Ability to work flexible shift patterns
  • Ability to follow strict company procedures
