Job Description

  • Cloud DevOps EngineerTerraform Enterprise
  • Up to £600 per dayInside IR35
  • Contract until end of March 2022 but likely to extend as long term project work
  • Ideally looking for someone who can travel to Cambridge ad-hoc but can be mainly remote based
Working for a Global Software Design company who work on ground-breaking technology we are looking for an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer with experience in Terraform Enterprise as well as strong AWS experience. The engineering platform you will be working on is key to the business, with the infrastructure having a profound impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the development teams.As Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will help design and build state-of-the-art services, infrastructure, and high performance compute to the engineering community as well as help our team establish DevOps practice.In this role you will be instrumental in deploying and operating the future of the companys Global Infrastructure & Platforms with a key focus on creating an AWS cloud capability. This will be achieved through build, integrate, testing and support activities,including but not limited to:
  • Build and maintain highly available self-hosted production systems such as Terraform, Vault and GitLab on AWS
  • Build scalable and efficient cloud infrastructure through Terraform
  • Work closely with our engineering teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for their workflows
  • Help define and write governance policies as code, based on security requirements
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
  • Run cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Solve incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
Job Requirements:Skills, experience and qualifications needed:
  • Minimum 3 years consistent track record as a Cloud DevOps Engineer building and maintaining highly available systems hosted onAWS
  • HashiCorp Terraform Enterprise or Cloudexperience required
  • Experience with HashiCorp Sentinel (Policy as code framework) required
  • Very strong experience writing Terraform modules and managing large infrastructure sets from Terraform
  • HashiCorp Terraform or Vaultcertifications desirable
  • Landing Zone experience desirable
  • Strong understanding of Networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN)
  • System Administration experience with Linux
  • Problem solving skills with a solid understanding of fault logging, tracking and resolution
  • Attention to detail and ability to co-ordinate cross-organisation problem solving
  • Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload
  • Ability to present and communicate the architecture in a visual form
  • Strong IT operational support skills
  • Highly proficient interpersonal skills

  • Meaningful experience in a distributed team
  • Working in a sophisticated, multi-geography, engineering services environment
  • Providing technical support and mentoring to others
  • Experience working in an Agile team, understanding of project management methods, fields and project lifecycles
