Job Description

Sensor Chemist - CambridgeTEC Partners are partnering with a company that develop market-leading high precision sensors for a variety of applications. Were looking for candidates with experience as a chemist within an industrial manufacturing environment, ideally within a cleanroom. You will be responsible for the fabrication of various thick film sensor transducers alongside other development work, whilst actively contributing towards Quality improvements within the sensor build team.Working as part of a close-knit team you will be responsible for manufacturing a range of moisture sensors, you will be comfortable and familiar with working to documented work instructions and specific Quality Requirements while maintaining tight process controls. A specific key part of the role is the manufacture of ceramic sensor and polymer humidity sensor tiles.Chemist Duties:

  • Responsible for the manufacturing process
  • Processing of the raw sensors prior to work commencing
  • Preparation of various chemical solutions
  • Anodisation, sealing and passivation processes
  • Vacuum deposition of metal layers
  • Maintaining of records associated with the processes
  • Physical vapour deposition of several metals
  • Spin-coating of polymer solutions
  • Monitoring output against the Quality Control procedures
  • Testing samples of freshly-made sensors on a verification system
  • Producing quartz crystal microbalance sensors using computer-controlled spray coating system
  • Improving and streamlining the production process, and new process requirements
  • Carry out stock and materials transactions on the Companys ERP system
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate sensor manufacturing database records
  • Responsibility for CoSHH register, keeping an up to date register of all chemicals on site.
  • Performing appropriate Risk Assessments

  • Extensive experience of utilising Chemistry within an industrial background
  • Previous cleanroom experience is highly desirable
  • The successful candidate is likely to be degree qualified, but applications from candidates with HNC /HND or equivalent with additional experience will also be considered
