A fully Agile Cambridge software company with a rapidly expanding team seeks an experienced C++ software engineer to work at the firmware level on its highly innovative range of products.Their customers include HP, Dell, Toshiba and Acer, and you will be working on the design of their high performance chips, and associated software that will be deployed in applications such as gaming, virtual reality and business productivity applications. The company has a very strong R&D feel about it, and they have a state of the art office facility with numerous meeting rooms/scrum rooms with twin screens to support video conferencing and remote working. Additionally, it has 2 kitchens on each floor stocked with fruit and snacks, cool breakout areas and coffee machines that produce the best coffee in the world (according to one employee)! The majority of their development is in embedded C++, at a variety of stack levels, and you will learn how to develop in a resource-constrained environment. At the firmware level you will be focussed development that will run in an SoC environment, and this will also involve you working alongside IC designers and verification engineers. It is likely there will be a requirement to develop you and train you into their specific systems and throughout your career here you will learn that the company will be focussed very strongly on you becoming the best engineer that you can be.They seek a person with good C++ experience, this may have come from an embedded environment, but they understand that many companies developing in an embedded environment primarily use C. Therefore if you are a strong C++ developer and have done some work in an embedded environment previously, where you will have developed an understanding of RTOS and CPUs, and understand the challenges it presents then you would be suitable for the role. The most importantly thing is that would like to forge your career into this highly technically challenging area.To apply for the role please send us a copy of your CV, or alternatively give Andy Pearson at Edgar Cowen a call for an informal discussion.
