Job Description

The ONE Group are supporting a Cambridge based team who grew enormously during 2022 and have even bigger plans for 2023. Working on ground-breaking technologies, as an Associate Scientist, you will join them at an incredibly exciting and pivotal time.We can promise you the opportunity to develop your technical skills, alongside enjoying their friendly and welcoming culture and fabulous set of benefits!There is no public transport in this area, so you will need to have your own vehicle.The Role:

  • Apply your scientific knowledge to the fabrication and characterisation of sensors using 2D materials
  • Explore novel surface chemistry and processing to optimise the performance of sensors for target applications
  • Build and evaluate novel device structures and testing methods
About You:
  • Ideally a scientific degree and/or industrial experience in a relevant field with strong, applied, hands-on experimental skills
  • Knowledge and experience of some or all of the following areas:
    • Surface chemistry, functionalisation and processing with proteins/enzymes required for fabrication
    • Build, test and characterisation (e.g. optical, electrochemical, magnetic)
    • Use and optimisation of electrochemical techniques to monitor biochemical systems (cyclic-voltammetry/chronoamperometry/electrochemical impedance spectroscopy etc)
    • Characterisation using surface analytical techniques (e.g. AFM, Raman, FTIR, XPS)
    • Fabrication and characterisation of 2D devices and sensors
Any of the following experience would also be very useful!:
  • Materials deposition techniques, e.g. screen printing, thermal evaporation
  • Imaging and analysis of biomolecular systems
  • Experience of bioMEMS
  • Development of ELISA or other immunoassays.
  • Experience with microfluidic devices.
  • Experience of 2D materials
