Job Description

We empower our people to seek these out, and we support them to pursue the opportunities they find !This is a new role to the Late Development Oncology Clinical Operations team and offers the opportunity for a candidate to build on their project leadership skills in fast-moving and highly matrixed environment. As an Associate Director, Business Planning and Operations, you will provide project management support for the Business Planning and Operations Lead for the Clin Ops function. You will project lead key information systems, reporting and processes for the Clin Ops function. Also, you will help drive the leadership team of the Late Development Oncology Clinical Operations function and will be responsible for leading, tracking and delivery of the business, finance, resource and portfolio goals to maximize the ability of the function to deliver its portfolio of projects.This position will work cross-functionally with the entire leadership team and will work closely with the Development Operations and project teams as well as with the core business planning and operations team of broader AstraZeneca. Accountability

  • Partner with leadership team to build business plans and scorecards. Track delivery, produces performance updates and reports business data including scorecard and communications oversight.
  • Develop more automated dashboards/reports to show study status and progress towards company goals. Support development and maintenance of electronic portals for sharing of information and standard methodologies.
  • Project management of key information systems and processes for Late Development Oncology Clinical Operations to include, but not be limited to:
  • Worker Management Systems, and Forecasts around contractor spend
  • Track departmental information and compliance with the MyTime, timecard system.
  • Working with contractor supplier, to lead external resources
  • Strategically partners with broader AstraZeneca communications team to identify & deliver key engagements and events.
  • Coordinate & facilitate Late Oncology Clinical Operations Leadership team meetings, town halls and other functional meetings.
  • Analyse headcount resource within the department, address any short falls, and plan reallocation/additional resources
  • Support implementation of strategic goals for processes, organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining Late Development Oncology Clinical Operations communication to share key achievements, new hires, contribution to Late Development Oncology newsletters, etc
  • Project management support of non-drug central initiatives that are a business priority. Select responsibilities in support of such initiatives include:
  • Leads cross functional projects and programmes, where required.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required with adequate pharmaceutical industries experience in a multi-national pharma organisation
  • PM certifications/Lean Six Sigma/Organizational Change/Digital Solutions and Automated Reporting skills would be desirable
  • Knowledge of clinical operations, project management tools and processes
  • Experience of clinical development / drug development process in various phases of development and therapy areas.
  • Ability to learn by working in multiple phases, TAs and/or different development situations.
  • Strong project management and cross-function team leadership skills
  • Ability to assess issues/risks and successful implement remediation measurements
  • Proven ability to set and lead priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills. Comfortable working with culturally diverse teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs or project-specific requirements
