Job Description

A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant to join the accounts team of 5. Working in a friendly office environment and reporting to the Finance Manager, this role would suit someone with experience ofpurchase, sales and nominal ledgers and ideally have the knowledge of handing accounting up to trial balance level.Tasks :

  • Carry out day to day accounting tasks in conjunction with the other members of the Accounts department including purchase invoice posting, expenses, raising invoices and credit control.
  • Assist with month end close processes including reconciling intercompany balances with other group companies and ensuring all expected costs have been input into accounting system.
  • Review monthly activity to prepare journal entries, VAT return reconciliations, Bank reconciliations.
  • Record vehicle change details for p11d records. Payroll hours and mileage records for group payroll team
  • Work closely with the operational departments and become familiar with the service systems
  • Provide cover during staff holidays for both AR and AP.
  • Other duties including admin responsibilities as delegated from time to time by the Financial Controller or Managing Director
Essential Work Skills:
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of working in a responsible wide accounting role in an SME company
  • Familiar with accounts procedures and sales, purchase, and nominal ledgers and ideally able to handle accounting up to trial balance level
  • Possess practical understanding of Sage 50 or 200 plus Excel and Word would be an advantage but not essential.

  • Good standard of numeracy and ability to work accurately with attention to detail
  • Good IT/system skills and good level of competence in Excel
  • A friendly team player with a flexible mature approach, a willingness to learn and good self-motivation
  • Strong organizational & time management skills
