Job Description

We are the No 1 seller in the world of luxury resorts in the Maldives and Seychelles with offices in Guernsey, Dubai, Maldives and Seychelles. Due to expansion we are looking asap for a Head of Finance, an accountant to oversee the financial management and financial records of the company. The role will essentially be home based but there may be opportunity for some travel.SummaryYou will be responsible for the overall control of all financial aspects of the business and be prepared to do so. You will drive company strategy, commercial decision making and ultimately be responsible for the financial development of the company. You will need to interact and communicate directly with the operations team, founders, the board and, where necessary, external parties such as auditors or financial institutions. The role will be leading a team so previous management experience will be important.Leisure, tourism experience is advantageous and would be highly sought after. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and commercial environment, be prepared to be hands on and have the credibility interacting with board level and directors.Key responsibilities of the Head of FinanceEffective management of the sales and purchase ledgers, including the regular provision of information to clients, suppliers and stakeholders.Supervise financial assistants and other employees and where necessary undertake the following day-to-day operations, including:

  • Ensure that all payment information is prepared for the Director to action and received in accordance with supplier payment terms and in line with client and company’s procedures.
  • Approve all invoices and credit notes and liaise with relevant depts when necessary on a daily basis.
  • Maintain aged debtors report, ensuring relevant parties are kept informed of outstanding commitments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements at month-end and investigate any queries.
  • Monitor outstanding invoices, including maintaining an aged creditors report, ensuring the Heads of Departments are kept informed of outstanding commitments of the relevant clients.
  • Liaise with suppliers and answering general payment enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile petty cash expense report with the receipts including staff expenses
  • Financial information and reporting
  • Liaise proactively with other departments and external agencies to ensure that all financial transactions are processed effectively and without delay, and attend helpfully to enquiries - both externally and internally.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare analysis of accounting information which may be required from time to time and provide information internally and externally to stakeholders.
  • Prepare a provisional cash flow by month for the full year and update it on a weekly basis.
  • Keep an effective file management system for retrieval of accounting records.
  • Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk, enhance efficiencies and workflows, assist with KPI’s and reporting generally.
  • Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accountants
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures, where appropriate.
  • Maintain a policy manual for the finance department, as appropriateDesired skills

  • Experience in a similar role and maybe part/fully qualified as an accountant.
  • Deep knowledge and past experience using Xero
