Job Description

European Tax Manager needed for global FMCG business in Surrey!£80,000 - £90,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + BenefitsStanton House are currently partnering with a global FMCG business who are looking to hire a newly created European Tax Manager role, responsible for the planning and supervision of tax matters relating to operations in Europe and the UK, including tax compliance, tax planning, transfer pricing, tax accounting (under US GAAP, local Statutory accounting and IFRS rules) and tax controversy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business who values their staff, create a great environment to work in and have invested in the UK market to grow the business.To successfully deliver in this high-profile position, you will need to have:

  • University degree.
  • Professional Accountancy/Tax Qualification.
  • A minimum of 8 years of tax experience gained either in practice, and/or in the Tax department of a multinational organisation.
  • Significant experience of UK and European tax rules and regulations.
  • An ability to understand complex business structures and transactions.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships remotely.
  • USGAAP experience is essential.
  • Must be able to operate with a hands-on mentality as well as demonstrating the gravitas and confidence to operate at a senior level.
  • A little more information about the role:
  • Review corporate tax returns for dedicated entities, manage tax related compliance arrangements, account for taxes under US GAAP, local GAAP, statutory accounting and IFRS.
  • Prepare US GAAP tax provision for UK entities.
  • Support transfer pricing work globally, including BEPS, Country by Country Reporting, and global documentation efforts.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and build relationships with tax authorities to ensure a strong, robust and professional relationship is maintained during tax audits for both direct and indirect taxes in dedicated countries.
  • Assure the correct set up for VAT regulations across Europe and follow any changes in the regulations in coordination with external advisors, including regular checks on the proper usage.
  • Support management as a tax business partner by coordinating, managing and implementing projects; ensuring their proper, efficient and timely execution from a tax perspective
  • Produce technical tax analyses and documentation on key financial transactions
  • Manage external adviser relationships
