Job Description

Graduate mechanical design engineer required to join a global manufacturing company that has been trading for over 70 years. They have seen consistent growth in recent years and offer an excellent benefits package inclusive of a potential annualbonus and BUPA medical cover.You will work closely with the engineering manager as part of a small team that is responsible for the design and development of one of their product ranges. The company operates as an engineering solutions provider meaning that the work they undertake isvery varied and bespoke to the customers requirements.The role will initially involve working from the design office of their manufacturing facility 5 days per week (Mon-Fri) but longer term there will be scope to work from home 2 days per week once you are up to speed within the role.Graduate mechanical design engineer responsibilities will include:

  • Producing equipment outline drawings and layouts for customers
  • Producing full equipment detailed drawings, layouts and work instructions for the manufacturing department
  • Interpreting customer requirements and technical specifications
  • Creating drawings and models in 3D CAD packages
  • Working to set schedules for completion of models and drawings
  • Completing the final design of equipment and issuing it to customers for approval
  • Producing manufacturing instructions
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure availability and delivery of required components
  • Keeping records and documentation up to date with any drawing changes and updating stakeholders as required
  • Liaising with other departments in the company as required
  • Communicating with customers regarding technical requirements and specifications
To apply for the graduate mechanical design engineer position, you will need:
  • A degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering subject (mechanical engineering, product design, etc.)
  • 3D CAD experience (Autodesk Inventor desirable)
  • Some industry experience gained post-graduation or via placement / year in industry is desirable
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats
  • To be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages,
