Job Description

Due to continued growth, our client on the outskirts of Caerphilly are looking to recruit a Full Stack Java Developer with experience in Android application development, to join their busy team for a period of 6 months initially. Following this period, there is a possibility that the contract would extended.You will be responsible for developing the companys bespoke Java web services and Android mobile applications, including back-end services and front-end frameworks.Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop these applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and product quality is essential.The Role:

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, structure, and automation
  • Database scripting and migrations
    • The Person:
  • Proficient in Java (Spring), with a good knowledge of its ecosystems
  • Experience with Android mobile application development
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful
  • Proficient with MySQL
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Proficient with Git or similar version control systems
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Ant, Maven, and Gradle
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Experience working in an Agile team
    • Highly Desirable:
  • Familiar with front-end frameworks (Angular/React)
  • Linux server administration
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • CI/CD Tools (Jenkins, Docker, etc.)
    • Our client offer an excellent working environment, and although this is a temporary 6 month position initially, on completion of this period there may be potential for a more permanent opportunity.
