They offer workflow solutions and products to customers in drug discovery & development, analytical testing and water & environmental testing. They are now seeking an AssistantQuality Engineer to join their existing team on a permanent basis.As Assistant Quality Engineer you will be responsible for the quality-control testing of all components used to manufacture products. This includes plastic parts and sub-assemblies. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, your work will involve:* Performing incoming QC testing on various components to ensure product quality, using calipers, gauges, and laboratory-based analysis* Sampling of raw materials* Ensuring all incoming materials are clean and suitable for use* Liaising with QC Manager/Quality Engineer and suppliers on quality issues* Performing routine spot checks in Production to ensure product quality. This may include checking fill weights and job card information* Troubleshooting production issues* Development work within QC/Production on existing processes and new products* Supporting LEAN/5S efficiency projects* Maintenance and calibration of QC systems using techniques as described in ISO 9000 work instructionsThe successful candidate will have:* An undergraduate degree in engineering or a science-related discipline is desirable* Experience working in a chemistry laboratory* Familiarity with common lab processes and materials* Proven ability to work well individually and as part of a small team* Excellent spoken and written English* The ability to work methodically and with precision* The ability to keep accurate records and work in a neat and clean environmentAcorn Recruitment acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
