Job Description

Mechanical Fitter - Manufacturing and Engineering - Bury - Up to £30,000.About the CompanyThis is your opportunity to join a business who are truly a world leader in their space. Manufacturing is at their heart and operate within the packaging industry.Our client is looking for a time served qualified Mechanical Fitter to join their team in Greater Manchester. Reporting to the Production Manager you will assist the production team in building world class machinery with the opportunity to travel overseas to supervise the mechanical installation.Mechanical Fitter - The Rewards

  • Salary up to £30,000
  • Bonus
  • Pension
  • 25 Days Holidays
  • 39 Hours per week
  • Overtime Optional - rate 1.5 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday
  • Option to work abroad roughly 4 times per year
  • Mechanical Fitter - Requirements
  • Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering - must be time served qualified
  • BTEC ONC or equivalent
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications
  • Proven experience of working in a Manufacturing / assembly environment
  • Experience of working to engineering drawings
  • Experience of using Mechanical Engineering processes in assembly and fitting
  • Experience of working away from home overseas
  • Experience in working with pneumatics and or hydraulics
  • Experience of lean production methods; PDCA / Cost down activities
  • Capital machinery experience
  • Paper / converting machinery experience
  • Process / vacuum system experience
  • Mechanical Fitter - Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Able to interface personably with customers - ambassadorial skills
  • Has good time management capabilities
  • Able to develop and maintain, mutually beneficial relationships with team members and colleagues
  • Demonstrates flexibility in order to address business needs
  • Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety regulations, to ensure no possibility of endangering yourself or colleagues.

  • Ensure that production targets are met safely and efficiently within the working environment
  • Work closely with the rest of the team to ensure targets are met.
  • Update the Mechanical Charge hand regarding any issues with the immediate task at hand.
  • Actively assist in continuous improvement and standardisation projects and processes
  • Acknowledge and promote the company’s responsibilities to the local environment as a whole.
  • Focus on improving quality and reducing build hours through efficiency gains.
  • Work cross functionally with design and technical teams, on build issues, to produce a superior product.
  • Supervise or assist with company projects at customer sites in the UK or abroad.
  • On occasion you will be required, sometimes at short notice, to travel on a worldwide basis to assist in installation and service of a company machinery
  • On these occasions you will be representing the company and your presentation, attitude and behaviour is expected to be of the highest professional standard.
  • Assist with the introduction and induction of new starters to company procedures and ways of working.
  • Actively engage in continuous improvement of yourself
