We work to ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting change to their lives.What youll be doingIn the role of Community Short Breaks Worker, youll be delivering fun activities & encouraging friendships, fun & choice in how to spend their time, encouragement to be part of their local communities & supporting parent/carers to have break.Our service supports a diverse group of disabled children/young people, delivering fun activities & encouraging friendships, fun & choice in how to spend their time, encouragement to be part of their local communities & supporting parent/carers to have break.You will be based at ourcommunity-based venues in Bury - Elton Centre, Sunnybank Centre (Term Time) & Bury Athletics Club (School Holidays)Youll do this by:-Working with a diverse group of disabled children and youngpeople and delivering exciting social activities such as baking, arts n crafts, sports, games and going out in the local community.-Encouragingchildren and youngpeople to make friends, enjoy their social time and be part of their local communities, as any other child and young person would.-Monitoring and assessing individual progress and development through diary sheets and care plans.-Ensuring that children and youngpeople are nurtured in a safe environment.-Personal care.What we need from you-An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Care (or equivalent) would be an advantage, but full training will be given.-Experience working with or spending time with disabled children/young people is an advantage but not a necessity.-An enthusiasm and passion to make a difference.-Innovative ideas for activities and ways to improve.-A belief that every child should have the same opportunities in life.Working here is so much more than a job.
