You will be expected to complete tasks from written work instruction, including Mechanical strips and refits on components. You will also specificallywork on modifications of Heavy Diesel engines. This is a Safety Critical position and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). The position is based on a busy maintenance depot and all applicants would be expected to complete the following:* Complete Diesel engine repairs* Work from written instruction (VMI)* Work from Mechanical Engineering drawings, working to specific measurements* Replacing mechanical components to correspond to engineering drawings* Work flexibly with a maintenance teamHeavy maintenance/Overhaul on Cross Country 221 and WestCoast 221 such as:Bogie exchangeCaliper changeAxle changesTraction motorsCarden shaftsPower pack drop (Engine)CompressorsAir dryersFuel tanksExcitations [PIMS]Permanent and Auto couplersTPCUCab changesFull door changesSeatsFloor renewalToilet tank exchange (Alongside TBM)Fresh water tanksMechanical ModsMod on the Cross Countries completed via technical drawing, followedup with testingVarious maintenance visits such as compressor oil changes, air dryer pressurevalve, final drive oil sampling and changes and brake pad checks andchangesPerson Profile/Experience:No previous rail experience required as we will consider applicants that have worked on any of the following, but you must have Mechanical Maintenance or Diesel Engine experience.Diesel Engine Fitter, Aviation HVAC, Process Engineering, Production Plants, Mechanic, Automotive - Routine Maintenance on Trucks/ HGV, Defence - Routine Maintenance on Submarines / Ships / Aircraft, EX Forces Mechanical Engineer - Routine Maintenance on Aircraft/helicopters/ HGV (REME, RAF, Navy)Qualifications:NVQ 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical discipline is a requirement.Contact Information:Email: Phone: PLEASE NOTE ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A DRUGS AND ALCOHOL TEST BEFORE BEING OFFERED A POSITION.Please note due to the volume of applications, we can only commit to contact those candidates we deem suitable for the position.
