Job Description

Facilities Maintenance / Caretaker / Handyperson with basic plumbing, joinery, plastering and painting and decorating skills is required for a Residential Care Home based in Burnham, Slough, Buckinghamshire.SALARY: £11.98 per hour + (3.5% rise in April) + Call Out + Potential Bonus and Retention PackageBENEFITS: Increased Annual Leave, Free Confidential Counselling Service, Financial and Legal AdviceLOCATION: Burnham, Slough, BuckinghamshireJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 5 days over a 7 day period (to be agreed with the manager)JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance / Caretaker / Handypersonwith basic plumbing, joinery, plastering and painting and decorating skills.As the Facilities Maintenance / Caretaker / Handyperson you will provide planned and reactive maintenance services in accordance with current best practices, prioritising in terms of urgency.Working as the Facilities Maintenance / Caretaker / Handyperson you will also drive the minibus to transport residents/staff when required.APPLY TODAYIf this job looks like your ideal position, then please send in your CV as soon as possible for our Recruitment Team to review.DUTIESYour duties as the Facilities Maintenance / Caretaker / Handyperson will include:

  • Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of maintenance implementation and delivery
  • Implement actions to meet and maintain maintenance standards
  • Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise
  • Ensure the Residents rights are protected
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals supported
  • Drive the minibus to transport residents/staff when required
  • Undertake any relevant duties as required by the Registered Manager
  • Be on call in emergencies
  • Develop effective working relationships with the other employees
  • Be involved in the implementation and maintenance of the services quality assurance programme
  • Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new employees
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • RQF Diploma/HNC/City and Guilds in Maintenance or Building Services
  • Ensure accurate, legible maintenance schedules are completed and maintained
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures
  • Good English - Written and verbal
  • To communicate effectively with Residents and their visitors
  • Attend Health and Safety meetings to represent Maintenance
  • Simple Plumbing, joinery, plastering skills
  • Painting and decorating skills
  • Health and safety knowledge pertaining to building maintenance
  • Previous experience of working in a similar environment
  • Previous experience of working in a maintenance role
  • Previous employment in the building trade
  • Experience of working with Residents who have additional support needs
